The Jackiesphere

Coming up with a graphics identity package for WDWCelebrations “Celebration 30” was a tall order.  During the lead-up to EPCOT Center’s grand opening in 1982, several graphic identities emerged.  There were always consistent elements… the “Lotus” logo, the EPCOT Center logotype, and simple, sans-serif fonts.  But there was no real unifying color scheme or design style.  We decided to embrace this diversity with our graphics treatment of Celebration 30. The various event collateral that attendees will receive have been inspired by the color scheme or design elements of various pieces of printed collateral that were released prior to the park’s opening in 1982.

For most of us, it’s silly to think we had to once have instructions on how to direct-dial.

PS: “I don’t know what this is” = get the hell off my lawn.

June 1st is the start of hurricane season, so dust off your emergency plans and cross your fingers for a quiet summer.

Actually yeah, it kinda is.

Planning the Community of Tomorrow: Diagrams and Blueprints (1966)

When Walt Disney unveiled his plans for a new entertainment and community venue in Florida, the City of Tomorrow that served as the property’s centerpiece was fully conceptualized, planned, and ready to be built.

Talk about marketing to back up your first foray into a new type of themed entertainment, and a whole new state!
